To all Disk Drill users, we are confirming a technical issue in macOS Mojave (10.14).

We got several recent reports from users not being able to access their external storage devices in Disk Drill, even though they are readily visible in Finder and Disk Utility on macOS 10.14. After a quick research, we officially confirm that this is caused by SIP (System Integrity Protection).

macOS Mojave automatically protects your external device with SIP when Time Machine is using that device as a backup storage. Please consider disabling SIP according to our instructions for the time when you need to run your data recovery or other actions on the external drive with Disk Drill.
