Can I Really Scan for My Lost Files for Free?

Yes! You absolutely can use Disk Drill to scan for lost files for free. Our free version, Disk Drill Basic, has full scanning capabilities. That means it costs you nothing to check and see if Disk Drill can find the files you lost. Once you have scanned your disk and previewed the files that were found, there are two possibilities:

1. If Disk Drill Basic was installed prior to data loss and you had Guaranteed Recovery and/or Recovery Vault enabled on the volume in question, you will be able to recover the files for free with the Undelete Protected Data method.
2. If you did not have Disk Drill installed, or you didn’t have Guaranteed Recovery or Recovery Vault enabled on the volume where data loss occurred, you can choose to upgrade to Disk Drill PRO. Once you upgrade, you will be able to recover the files and save them to the location of your choice.
