How Do I Mount Scanning Results As a Disk and Recover From It?

One of the great features of Disk Drill PRO is that you don’t have to preview files in Disk Drill. You can instead recover them to a virtual disk and open the files in their native applications.

Note that a third-party application called Fuse needs to be installed to enable this option. It may have been installed automatically when you installed Disk Drill. If it was not, it will ask for your administrator password to do so now.

1. Perform a scan as normal.
2. When the list of recoverable files appears, click the Mount Found Items as Disk button on the bottom-left below the scan results.
   
3. Select a location to save the results. Warning: We strongly suggest saving the files to a different drive than the one you are trying to recover files from. Saving to the same drive substantially lowers your chances of recovery.
4. You’ll see a drive icon appear in your selected location (similar to the icon you see for a USB flash drive). Double-click the drive and you can sort and open your files just as if they were on an external drive.
