Cleaning up S.M.A.R.T & Fuse After Uninstalling Disk Drill

Did you remove Disk Drill by simply dragging the app to the trash? Yikes, you probably still have the S.M.A.R.T. monitoring tool hanging around in your menu bar. You may also notice FUSE showing in your Preferences area. These additional components are not directly associated with Disk Drill but used by Disk Drill for monitoring your disk health. You can certainly keep FUSE, but the S.M.A.R.T. feature will not work without Disk Drill.

It is not necessary to remove these components because they are harmless. Still, if you do wish to remove them, we can help out. Please see the guide below for some more details on how you can remove additional components that may be lingering after Disk Drill was trashed.

Suggested Method: Disk Drill Uninstall Guide

Uninstalling Disk Drill via the proper uninstallation instructions is generally the best way to remove the added S.M.A.R.T. Monitoring and FUSE plugins. These are additional features which are installed on your Mac together with Disk Drill to create a superior experience and help monitor disk health. We provide an easy to use, safe uninstaller which will clean up any leftover Disk Drill components automatically.

Read our full uninstallation guide for details.

Help! I Already Incorrectly Uninstalled Disk Drill.

If you’ve uninstalled Disk Drill another way such as simply dragging it to the trash then we suggest downloading the latest version of Disk Drill, reinstalling Disk Drill and then following the uninstallation procedure mentioned above.

If you encounter an issue with the uninstaller or during the uninstallation of Disk Drill we offer several alternative options for removing the S.M.A.R.T. Monitoring and/or FUSE modules manually. These alternative removal methods can be found in the full Disk Drill uninstallation guide.
