At least Apple saves you from having to hunt for them one by one \u2013 the Photos app automatically puts every screenshot into its own album. But we found its cleanup options pretty limited. From there, our team reviewed those limitations one by one and picked alternative methods that make deleting screenshots on an iPhone more convenient.<\/p>\r\n

<\/span>How to Delete Screenshots on iPhone Using the Built-in Photos App<\/span><\/h2>\r\n

This is probably the most standard way to delete screenshots on an iPhone, but it\u2019s also easy to overlook simply because of what screenshots are. We take them all the time, use them for a specific purpose, and then rarely think about them again. If you haven\u2019t checked the Screenshots collection in Photos for a while, that\u2019s where we recommend starting.<\/p>\r\n

Here’s how to delete screenshots through the Photos app:<\/b><\/p>\r\n

  1. Open the Photos app<\/b>. From the bottom menu, select Collections<\/b>.<\/li>\r\n\t
  2. Scroll down to Media Types<\/b> and tap Screenshots<\/b>.\"Open<\/li>\r\n\t
  3. By default, your screenshots are sorted from newest to oldest (from top to bottom). If you want to review your oldest screenshots first, tap the three-line button in the bottom left corner of the screen and select Sort by Oldest First<\/b>.\"Sort<\/li>\r\n\t
  4. Tap Select<\/b> in the top right corner of the screen. Then, select the screenshots you want to remove and tap the Trash<\/b> button.\"Delete<\/li>\r\n\t
  5. Alternatively, if you want to delete all screenshots from your iPhone, tap Select<\/b> and then Select All<\/b> instead. Tap the Trash<\/b> button to proceed.\"Select<\/li>\r\n\t

    💡 Just don\u2019t forget about the Recently Deleted album. Like every other photo you delete on an iPhone, screenshots are moved there first. Empty that album as well if you want to free the storage now instead of waiting for iOS to do it automatically after 30 days.<\/div>\r\n

    And what if you want to find the biggest screenshots<\/b> first? That\u2019s where the Screenshots album falls short. There\u2019s no size sorting here, so you\u2019d have to open a screenshot, tap the Info<\/b> button to check how much space it takes up, then move on to the next one and do the same thing again. With a few screenshots, that\u2019s fine. With a few hundred, not so much.\"Check<\/p>\r\n

    The more we worked with the Screenshots album for this guide, the more we noticed how little you can actually do with it. So we asked around our team to see if anyone was using something else \u2013 and we got two answers: a third-party cleaner for more sorting options, and a custom shortcut for cases where the Photos app can\u2019t do what you need.<\/p>\r\n

    <\/span>Method 1:<\/span> Use an iPhone Cleaner App to Delete Screenshots<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\r\n

    The obvious winner among our team for deleting screenshots was using an iPhone cleaning app, mostly because you get features that simply aren\u2019t available in Apple\u2019s Photos app.<\/p>\r\n

    Take one of our favorites, Clever Cleaner<\/a>. At first, its Screenshots tool looks like it simply mirrors the Screenshots album in Photos. But open it and there\u2019s quite a bit more information to work with: you can see how much storage all your screenshots take up, as well as the size of each individual file. If size is what matters, sort them from largest to smallest and start there. If age matters more, you can put either the newest or oldest screenshots first.<\/p>\r\n

    Clever Cleaner has no ads, and you can use its cleanup tools for free within the daily limits. If you hit one, you can wait until the next day and continue; there are also premium plans if you\u2019d rather remove the limits altogether.<\/p>\r\n

    Here\u2019s how to delete screenshots with Clever Cleaner:<\/b><\/p>\r\n

    1. Download Clever Cleaner<\/a> from the App Store and open it.<\/li>\r\n\t
    2. Grant the app access to your photo library and wait for the initial scan to finish. After that, open the Screenshots<\/b> section.<\/li>\r\n\t
    3. Tap the two-arrow<\/b> button at the top. Choose Latest<\/b>, Oldest<\/b>, or Largest, depending on how you want your screenshots sorted.\"Sort<\/li>\r\n\t
    4. To delete everything, tap Select All<\/b> and then the yellow Delete<\/b> button at the bottom of the screen.<\/li>\r\n\t
    5. If you only want to get rid of some screenshots, select them using the check marks<\/b> and tap Delete<\/b>. You can also tap any screenshot to open it and go through your selection that way.\"Select<\/li>\r\n\t
    6. On the Review and delete<\/b> screen, check what you selected. You can restore anything you want to keep here. Tap Delete<\/b> when you\u2019re ready.<\/li>\r\n\t
    7. Clever Cleaner will show how much space you cleared after the cleanup. It will also remind you to empty Recently Deleted<\/b> in Photos, which you\u2019ll need to do if you want to reclaim that storage right away.\"Review<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n
      That\u2019s already more than you can do in Photos, and we haven\u2019t covered everything in the Screenshots tool yet. It also has Swipe<\/b>, where you can review screenshots one at a time and keep or delete each one. And if some screenshots are still useful but take up more space than you\u2019d like, you can switch to Compress<\/b> instead. This lets you shrink them rather than delete them.<\/div>\r\n
