Good call. At least Apple saves you from having to hunt for them one by one – the Photos app automatically puts every screenshot into its own album. The latter keeps the photo but gets rid of the video part that makes a Live Photo larger.

Compress works with videos as well as images, so files you want to keep don’t necessarily have to stay at their original size.

Swipe is probably the better fit if you like having the final say on everything. You can work through photos by month and swipe to keep or delete them, with a progress indicator showing how far you’ve made it through the library. There are also ready-made groups to jump into, including Random, Favorites, Videos, Screenshots, and Live Photos.

Smart Cleanup is the closest you can get to leaving the cleanup to the app. In one run, it can remove duplicate and similar photos, compress screenshots, and convert Live Photos into still images.
