If the original data is there, it can be restored to a safe location. However, this is only until it\u2019s overwritten by new data, which is why it\u2019s imperative that recovery is a priority.<\/p>\r\n<p>When it comes to recovery, it\u2019s also very context-dependent. You have better odds of recovering a video straight after deletion than if the card was used for five more flights, but you\u2019re also facing different variables if, say, your drone crashed into water. However, not every recovery app equally supports drone video. Likewise, it\u2019s efficient at recovering JPG and raw DNG files in case you had photos on there too.<\/p>\r\n<h3 class=\"title_sc_bg\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"method_2_check_dji_godji_fly\"><\/span><span class=\"title_shortcode_bg\">Method 2.<\/span> Check DJI GO\/DJI Fly<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\r\n<p>Before assuming the footage was deleted, it\u2019s a good idea to check whether the DJI app saved a copy locally on your phone or tablet.<\/p>\r\n<p>The app you use depends on your drone model, and the folder names and locations may vary by app version and phone operating system. Newer DJI drones use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dji.com\/nz\/downloads\/djiapp\/dji-fly\">DJI Fly<\/a> app. Older models use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dji.com\/nz\/downloads\/djiapp\/dji-go-4\">DJI GO4<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dji.com\/nz\/goapp\">DJI GO<\/a>. It will show you all videos on your device, not just those shot by your drone.<\/p>\r\n<div class=\"alert alert-success\" role=\"alert\">Cached videos aren\u2019t the same quality as the original footage shot by your DJI drone. It will be a lower resolution, compressed, and maybe even incomplete. However, it can still save the day if the original file is gone.<\/div>\r\n<h3 class=\"title_sc_bg\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"method_3_restore_dji_footage_from_backups_or_synced_copies\"><\/span><span class=\"title_shortcode_bg\">Method 3.<\/span> Restore DJI Footage from Backups or Synced Copies<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\r\n<p>Struck out with the last two methods? Your last option is to check for backups or synced copies of the footage on the off-chance they were (1) transferred from the drone, SD card, controller, phone, or DJI app to a computer or another device before it was lost, and (2) that device had backup or cloud sync active at the time. If these two conditions are met, some footage may be restorable without even having to scan the original DJI card.<\/p>\r\n<div class=\"alert alert-warning\" role=\"alert\">To be clear, this option entirely depends on a setup where the footage you took was backed up in some form after it was captured and before it was deleted. If the footage stayed on your drone\u2019s SD card the entire time and never touched a computer, the cloud, or any backup service, this won\u2019t help.<\/div>\r\n<p>We\u2019ll run you through two scenarios: the first covers if you transferred the videos to a Windows PC and then they were backed up with File History, and the second covers how to recover deleted videos from DJI that were synced to the OneDrive cloud service.<\/p>\r\n<p>Restoring a video from File History:<\/p>\r\n<ol>\r\n\t<li>Open <strong>Start<\/strong> and search \u201cRestore your files with File History\u201d.
