This also excludes the item from being detected in subsequent scans.<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"alert alert-secondary\" role=\"alert\"><b>Remove from history<\/b> &#8211; This option removes the item from the Security History log.<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"alert alert-secondary\" role=\"alert\"><b>Submit to NortonLifeLock<\/b>\u00a0&#8211; This option allows you to contribute to the tool\u2019s effectiveness by submitting files you believe to be a security risk to Norton. In this case, Norton has already removed the file from its special folder and deleted it from your system. Luckily, on both macOS and Windows systems, this doesn\u2019t mean the file is gone for good.<\/p>\r\n<div class=\"alert alert-info\" role=\"alert\">&#x1f4a1; Modern operating systems simply remove the logical links that make the file available when first deleting an item. <b>As long as the space used by the file has not been overwritten by new information, the original file can be recovered<\/b>. Data recovery software accomplishes this feat by repairing the removed logical links and making the item available to the operating system and applications again.<\/div>\r\n<p>Use the following steps to restore files Norton has deleted using Disk Drill data recovery software. Disk Drill is available for <a href=\"\/data-recovery-software.html\">Windows<\/a> and <a href=\"\/\">Mac<\/a> systems and uses the same procedure on both operating systems.<\/p>\r\n<ol>\r\n\t<li><a href=\"\/download.html\">Download<\/a> and install Disk Drill. Don\u2019t use the disk that contained the deleted files to avoid overwriting the data that you want to restore. It costs $69.99 per year and Norton currently offers a 42% discount for the first year.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<div class=\"alert alert-info\" role=\"alert\">&#x1f4a1;For this section, we&#8217;ll be looking at Norton&#8217;s data recovery tool, which can be found in Utilities Ultimate. The Recover tool can restore most standard file types on common types of drives (including your system drive). Unfortunately, it won&#8217;t work for files that were deleted using Norton Utilities Ultimate&#8217;s File Shredder tool.<\/div>\r\n<ol>\r\n\t<li>Launch Norton Utilities Ultimate.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>On the left sidebar, select &#8220;Toolbox&#8221;, then &#8220;Recover.&#8221;<\/li>\r\n\t<li>On the window that appears, click the &#8220;Search and Recover&#8221; button.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Navigate to &#8220;Search Options&#8221; and select the drive you want to restore data from. Then, select a location on a different drive where you want Norton to save your recovered data.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Select &#8220;Use Strong Scan&#8221; for better coverage, then click &#8220;Search.&#8221;<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"how_to_stop_norton_from_removing_files\"><\/span><b>How to Stop Norton from Removing Files<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n<p>You can stop Norton from deleting files and moving them to its quarantine folder.
