You might be trying to recover:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>DMG (common on macOS)<\/li>\n<li>ISO (common on Windows, also used on macOS)<\/li>\n<li>A full VIDEO_TS folder (DVD-Video structure)<\/li>\n<li>Individual DVD movie files such as .VOB, .IFO, and .BUP<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If your goal is to restore a playable DVD movie, the most important files are usually:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>VOB files (the actual video\/audio data)<\/li>\n<li>IFO files (navigation and playback info)<\/li>\n<li>BUP files (backup copies of IFO files)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"why_disk_drill_cant_scan_a_dvd_disc_directly_but_can_recover_dvd_images\"><\/span><b>Why Disk Drill Can\u2019t Scan a DVD Disc Directly (But Can Recover DVD Images)<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>DVDs are optical media, and recovery software doesn\u2019t always support scanning them the same way it scans hard drives, SSDs, or USB flash drives. With Disk Drill specifically:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#x26d4; It cannot scan the DVD disc itself<\/li>\n<li>&#x2705; It can scan a <a href=\"\/help\/dmg-iso-backup.html\">byte-to-byte image<\/a> created from that disc (like DMG)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So the workflow becomes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Create a disk image (DMG) of the DVD<\/li>\n<li>Attach\/open that DMG in Disk Drill<\/li>\n<li>Scan the image<\/li>\n<li>Recover the files to a different storage device<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"why_your_recovered_dvd_video_might_be_split_into_multiple_parts\"><\/span><b>Why Your Recovered DVD Video Might Be Split Into Multiple Parts<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Disk Drill can recover DVD data, but sometimes recovered items may appear split (especially when recovering large video files). If you don\u2019t see one large VOB file after recovery, check for smaller files that could be pieces of the original.<\/p>\n<p>This can happen for a few reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>DVDs Often Store Video in Chunks<\/b>. Even on a healthy DVD, video is commonly stored in multiple VOB segments (so \u201cone movie\u201d may naturally be several VOB files.), such as:\n<ul style=\"list-style-type:square\">\n<li>VTS_01_1.VOB<\/li>\n<li>VTS_01_2.VOB<\/li>\n<li>VTS_01_3.VOB<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>File Fragmentation or Partial Reads<\/b>.
