And there’s something similar going on with our brainchild, Disk Drill, that we wanted to share with you.<\/p>\n

<\/span>The Good News<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

Are you reading this because you think that Disk Drill Media Recovery is crashing your Mac? The good news is, it’s not. It’s not Disk Drill that does that, cause it simply can’t.<\/p>\n

<\/span>The Problem<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

Not so long ago we started receiving reports from Mac App Store users that our app, Disk Drill Media Recovery<\/a>, crashes their Macs. Moreover, the crash is not a simple app freezing or quitting unexpectedly, it’s a real kernel panic, which is NOT possible with an app like Disk Drill Media Recovery, as it doesn’t deploy any kernel extensions. Also, Disk Drill Media Recovery is constantly verified for possible problems by Apple’s review team and is guaranteed to be safe for your computer. As a result, users are posting 1-star reviews for our app that has nothing to do with those crashes.<\/p>\n

<\/span>The Solution<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

After a detailed investigation, we were able to hunt the problem down to the actual originator of the crash. It’s Kaspersky Cloud Security<\/i>, and potentially other Kaspersky products. For an unknown reason their anti-virus solution causes a kernel panic when Disk Drill Media Recovery is started by a user. After discovering that, we have immediately reached out to their team and reported the problem. Up till now, we don’t have any viable solution from them.<\/b><\/p>\n

For Disk Drill users the easiest workaround would be quickly getting in touch with our tech support<\/a> and exchanging Disk Drill Media Recovery for Disk Drill PRO as a free upgrade. As a result you are getting a superior product that Kaspersky is (huh!) OK with.<\/p>\n

<\/span>The Status<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

As of July 11, 2018, we were able to confirm with Kaspersky tech team that the fix was secured in Kaspersky Cloud Security version 18.0.2.60. We hope the new release of their security suite is released asap.<\/p>\n

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.<\/b> Unfortunately, it’s not something we can fix, it’s not Disk Drill causing the crash, and there’s no visible reason for a legit Apple-approved app to be conflicting with Kaspersky.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
