I have just hit restore on my possibly trashed passport drive.
I watched the disk drill panel and all the empty space was mapped
and then it said “walking over journal” and it’s been like that for an hour…
is this normal??
fingers crossed……October 8, 2016 at 3:24 pm #7281
message in the window says “no files found yet. Please wait…October 8, 2016 at 7:07 pm #7282
Hi there, which version of Disk Drill are you running? What’s the file system on the disk being scanned? What exactly do you mean by “all the empty space was mapped”?
The “walking over journal” status hanging there for an hour or more is not normal, but the scanning speed overall may highly depend on the target drive’s condition.October 8, 2016 at 8:48 pm #7283
OK I am using 3.0756 basic disk drill
I am trying to access a mac passport drive, I wish I could tell you more but I don’t know what “system” it was formatted with.
it comes up in the menu of disks and once I hit restore for the drive it started “mapping empty space” and went from 0 – 100% and then the message in that same space became “walking over journal” and then my computer got shut down and it “saved the session”
I didn’t access the saved scan but started the process again and I am, once again, at the walking over journal section and have been for about 20 minutes.’October 9, 2016 at 7:07 pm #7284
OK, it sounds like your partition’s journal is severely damaged, and Quick Scan gets stuck. Try to choose only Deep Scan specifically for this drive, and not hit the unified Recover button. Will Deep Scan alone run OK? Also, please, send us the Disk Drill’s logs: https://www.cleverfiles.com/help/troubleshooting-basics/
