I am attempting to recover the data from a corrupted 1TB disk to an empty 2TB one. My computer’s internal drive is quite full since I had to transfer the content of 2TB drive to the internal one to make it available for a recovery. Using Disk Drill, I was able to get 18% of the way through the process and I found that it was filling up my internal drive completely and OSX brought up a popup forcing me to quit. I restarted and have only 60MB available and don’t know where my free space went.
Is there a swap file, temp file, or invisible file somewhere on my internal drive that Disk Drill uses before transferring to the 2TB drive? Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening again?
That’s weird. It might be session autosaving, but it shouldn’t occupy more space than 300 MB per million recoverable items. It might be Mac OS swapping if you have very little space available on the main disk.
