I have a large partition that Finder doesn’t see, but Disk Drill does. Long story how that happened, but bottom line is there are no data in it and I simply need to delete it so I can reclaim the space.
Can Disk Drill to do this?February 26, 2012 at 6:33 am #4854
Do you see this partition in Disk Utility? Anyway I think you should email a screenshot of this partition in Disk Drill and its details to firstname.lastname@example.org so we could provide you with more specific instructions.February 26, 2012 at 10:45 am #4856
Thanks for your reply.
No, it didn’t show in DU, even w/Debug on & Show All Partitions selected. If it had, I could have deleted it there.
It resulted from force quitting DU while creating another partition. Afterward, all free space showed as being in use, but there was no invisible temp file or the like to trash.
The free version of DD showed the space as a “lost partition” and the Deep Scan showed no files or folders in it (of course). I was wondering if the paid version would enable me to delete it.
I re-installed 10.7.3 and that cured the problem.February 27, 2012 at 4:01 am #4857
Unfortunately, Disk Drill wouldn’t have been able to delete a partition, it’s not among the features. We don’t make any changes to your disks at all. This might slightly change with Disk Drill 2.
