How deep is Disk Drill’s scanning compared to specialist data recovery labs?

I have a external 2.5″ 640GB SATA disk which originally had 4 HFS partitions which all disappeared after a laptop crash.

If Disk Drill recovers zero files, does this definitely mean that going to a specialist (expensive) data recovery company is pointless?

I can answer to this question only having your hard drive in our lab. I would say that if Disk Drill recovers 0 files, it does not necessarily mean that a specialist lab would not recover at least anything. Disk Drill is a DIY (do it yourself) software. We apply certain algorithms to find the data, we suppose these algorithms to be deep enough to find everything that can be found. But there’s NO GUARANTEE that it is absolutely true. Nothing is in this world, actually. Keep in mind that deep scanning is based on known file signatures. There’s always a number of file types that Deep Scan wouldn’t know.
