I recently deleted a number of files on my old computer, (macbook pro running OS 10.4.x Tiger) and I now realize I need some of them back. Is there any way to use disk drill on that computer’s Hard drive? I’ve tried running disk drill from a thumb drive on that computer (OS is too old, won’t run it); a usb-to-usb cable (doesn’t work with disk drill); and using a fire wire (but the computer’s fire wire plug is so old that I don’t have a cable that will successfully fit into a port on both computers).

Is there a way to scan my old computer’s HD without installing disk drill on it, and without spending more money than I already have?

I’m sorry, I didn’t get it why exactly you can’t connect that old Mac in target mode… Also, can you extract the HD and connect it as an external one to a newer Mac?
