New user. Just did my first data recovery. Files being recovered are .nef files deleted from IPhoto in error. Recovered from my hard drive on my macbook pro. Photos were recovered to a folder on my desktop. I can see the photos displayed as icons in the data recovery folder, but when I preview them, or try to open them I am presented with an all black image. The data type shows as .nef, but when I try to open them with photo shop cs4 it comes back with an error “unexpected end of file encountered”

So, what you’re saying is even though when I identified recoverable files, using deep scan, and previewed them successfully using your product that they are still not recoverable. Your documentation indicates that if a file is previewable with your product in all likelihood it is recoverable.. news flash.. that ain’t so.
Looks like I made a real sound $89 investment here.

jpg versions of these files are recoverable.. it is the .nef files that cannot be recoverable. you list .nef as a supported file type.. while these .nef files are shown in my folder of recovered items, and I can see them clearly in icon display, there is no software that I have found which will open them. To me, that indicates that .nef is not in fact a supported file format.

That easily means that only the preview portion of the file is recoverable in your case, not the NEF file itself. Can you send a couple of such recovered NEFs with the reference to this topic to our support team (help@cleverfiles.com) for a review?
